The BS in Digital Film program provides advanced production training in cinema, combined with the opportunity to work on commercial projects and documentary productions in a real-world environment.  In addition to learning operational aspects of digital film, such as lighting, camera, and sound production requirements, students will receive hands-on training in pre- and post-production techniques.  The program also include academic coursework in film theory, history and criticism, screenwriting, editing, and documentary production.

Students have opportunities to study theatre, dance, and digital film in the classroom and through theatrical productions, dance productions, and professional film production work. Students are equipped to find work as creative, highly effective communicators across a wide array of careers in theatre, dance, or digital film. Graduates have gone on to careers in the theatre as theatre techs, actors, theatre educators, and directors. Others have gone on to careers with dance companies, built dance studios, or careers in theatre specializing in dance. Others have gone on to careers in the film industry as production techs or post-production specialists.

Accounting is an excellent educational foundation, providing an increased number and variety of career opportunities. The discipline concentrates on the measurement of financial transactions in a business process. The accounting content acquired in the bachelor’s degree will provide the core business knowledge which is essential to career success and prepares interested students to attain advanced degrees. Careers in Accounting are competitive, diverse and are excellent portals for higher level corporate positions. An Accounting degree prepares students for careers in public accounting, taxation, corporate management, and consultation positions. B.S. Finance is an application based degree with the objective to prepare students to pursue a career in corporate finance,  personal financial planning, banking, or research.  The program integrates theory with the acquisition of critical thinking, analysis, and technical skills sought by employers. Students learn about financial markets, institutions, and securities. They also learn to conduct and effectively present financial analysis of corporate projects and  financial securities. In the capstone course they will manage an investment portfolio in an active learning setting.

Upon completing the prerequisite General Education and Program prerequisite courses, students are eligible to apply to the Elementary Education Program. The Junior and Senior years include coursework and teaching experiences leading to a Utah Level I Educator License. The Level I license qualifies graduates to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade. Paid employment opportunities while in the program are available to students through DSU’s partnership with school districts. Students will graduate with an ESL Endorsement, which gives them the knowledge and skills to teach students who are learning English as a second language.

Dixie State University’s Integrated Studies program allows students to stand out from the crowd by earning bachelor’s degrees different from traditional, discipline-specific majors. A Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy consists of comprehensive classroom and clinical curricula that prepare students for the credentialing exam offered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Successful completion of the curriculum and the credentialing exam certifies students as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and enables them to apply for licensure in their state of residence. Employment opportunities with health care providers range from home health and hospice to neonatal, pediatric, and adult intensive care units in Dixie State University’s (DSU) service area and across the country.

The Applied Sociology program at DSU provides students with the skills they need to successfully compete in a competitive marketplace as well as to do well in graduate programs of various kinds. Our emphasis on theory, methodology, and real world experience makes us unique among undergraduate programs in Sociology. Students gain an understanding of how sociological theory is relevant to the communities and organizations where they live and work, how different data gathering methodologies provide information about these communities and their needs, and learn to apply theory and methodology as professional sociologists. Students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary for a wide range of employment opportunities in industry and government laboratories, as well as for entry into graduate schools.
